Manipur Violence: Amid the prevailing law and order situation in the strife-torn Manipur, Chief Minister Biren Singh has called an emergency meeting with MLAs from the ruling coalition, which comprises the BJP, Naga People's Front, and National Peoples Party (NPP), on Saturday evening, reports news agency PTI, quoting official sources.
The meeting is scheduled to take place at the bungalow of Chief Minister Singh. It is expected that the meeting will focus on decisions concerning the recent attacks on civilians by armed men from elevated hill areas, sources added.
Additionally, the legislators, along with Singh, may also meet the governor, though this is yet to be confirmed. CM Singh also met Manipur Governor L. Acharya on Saturday evening.
Manipur News: Prohibitory Orders Issues After Five Killed In Jiribam
The district magistrate issued prohibitory orders in the area after five were killed in fresh violence in Manipur's Jiribam, reports News 18. The order restricts the assembly of more than five people and the carrying of arms and ammunition. In an official letter, DM Krishna Kumar noted an apprehension of widespread disturbance to the peace and public tranquility in the area. He has also appealed to people to maintain the law and order situation.

On Saturday, five people were killed in fresh violence in Manipur's Jiribam district. Security forces, on the other hand, destroyed three bunkers of militants in Churachandpur district on Friday after the insurgents launched rocket attacks in adjoining Bishnupur that killed one person and injured six others.
Militants entered the house of the person who lived alone at an isolated location around 5 km from the district administration headquarters and shot him dead in his sleep, he said.
Manipur Violence: Military Chopper Deployed For Surveillance Amid Fresh Violence
The Manipur government has pressed into service a military chopper to conduct aerial patrolling and deployed anti-drone systems to repel the rogue drones of militants. According to a senior police officer as quoted by IANS, suspected Kuki militants carried out attacks at Nungchappi village in Jiribam district, killing 63-year-old Yurembam Kulendra Singha, who was sleeping during the attack.
The militants then continued with the firing in Rasidpur village, following which the village volunteers retaliated, in which Baspatimayum Lakhi Kumar Sharma (41) was killed. Both Singha and Sharma belong to the Meitei community. Security forces led by senior police officials later rushed to the area, and they were also fired upon. The security personnel also retaliated befittingly, the official said.
