In a tragic incident in Chhindwara district, Madhya Pradesh, a 7-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by seven minors on Monday, June 29. Following a complaint by the victim’s parents, police from the women's police station rounded up seven minors, aged between 9 and 11 years old. 

According to authorities, the incident took place during a local social event near the victim's residence. A group of minors, aged between 9 and 11 years old, allegedly lured the young girl to a secluded location behind a nearby house, where the assault occurred.

The victim returned home in a visibly terrified and distressed state, prompting her family to immediately approach the local women's police station to file a formal written complaint. Following the complaint, law enforcement swiftly detained all seven minor children suspected of being involved in the incident for further questioning.

The victim has undergone a mandatory medical examination. Police officials stated that formal legal charges and specific sections of the law will be finalised once the medical report is officially received.

"Legal action was initiated immediately upon receiving the family's complaint. Given the gravity of the matter, a swift investigation was launched, and all seven children believed to be involved have been rounded up for questioning. A medical examination of the victim has been conducted, and further legal proceedings will be determined based on the pending medical report,” said Aruna Vahane, Women Police Station In-Charge.

The incident has sparked significant outrage among residents, who are demanding strict accountability and legal action in accordance with juvenile laws.
