Madhya Pradesh’s Panna district’s diamond-rich land has once again made headlines after a 6.54-carat sparkling diamond was discovered in a shallow mine in Jaruapar village. The rare find has created excitement in the region and is estimated to be worth over Rs 12 lakh.
The discovery was made by Meena Singh, a female leaseholder who had taken the mine on lease in March. Her consistent efforts reportedly led to the recovery of this valuable stone, marking a significant moment of success.

According to reports, the diamond has been handed over to the local diamond office in Panna and will be included in an upcoming auction. As per procedure, the stone will be sold through auction, after which government royalty will be deducted, and the remaining amount will be given to the finder.
According to Rana Singh, husband of Meena Singh and a construction materials supplier from Noida, the idea of diamonds struck his mind after he heard about Panna's lease system in 2020 and after several attempts, he finally got his first lease. His hard work was rewarded with the discovery of many diamonds ranging from 4.57 carats in 2021, 9.64 carats in 2022, to 8.1 carats in 2023, though nothing of substance was found in 2024 and 2025.
He credited much of the operation to his associate Gautam Mistry, who oversees mining activities and reports each find for official deposit, as required by rules. Singh also said he has invested over Rs 1 crore in mining over the years, adding that returns so far have covered his costs.
According to officials, a total of 15 diamonds have been recovered from the mine since operations began. The latest discovery marks a renewed boost for Singh’s venture, with proceeds from the auction expected to be reinvested in future mining activities.
