New Rules From July 1: Starting July 1, many big financial changes will come into effect, impacting the pockets of the common man. From changes in the railways Tatkal ticket rules to the announcement of new credit card rules to the new fare prices of train tickets, these changes are going to be implemented from the start of the second quarter of the year, i.e. July, 2025.
Tatkal Ticket Booking Changes:
The Ministry of Railways has recently announced that starting July 1, users who have completed their Aadhaar authentication will be able to book Tatkal tickets through IRCTC’s mobile application or website. From July 15, Aadhaar-based OTP authentication will be made mandatory for Tatkal ticket booking.
Increase In Train Ticket Prices:
The Railway Ministry has also decided to increase the train ticket prices from July 1. Under this new rule, the ticket fares for non-AC coaches will be increased by 1 paisa per km, while the fares for AC tickets will be increased by 2 paisa per km. This policy will be implemented for those passengers who are travelling beyond 500 km. For passengers travelling less than 500 km, the fare will remain unchanged. The Railways Ministry also announced changes in Tatkal ticket booking by authorised agents.
Aadhaar Card Mandatory For PAN Card:
According to the new rule by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), an Aadhaar card is mandatory for getting a new Permanent Account Number (PAN) card from July 1. Individuals who want to seek a new PAN card should have an Aadhaar Card, and Aadhaar verification is mandatory for all.
The last date to link your PAN card with your Aadhaar card is December 31, 2025. As per the Income Tax Department, an individual can hold a single PAN card and having more than one can result in a fine of Rs 10,000. The new rule aims to prevent the creation of fake PAN cards in the country.
Cash Withdrawal From ICICI Bank:
In a major rule change by the ICICI Bank, cash withdrawals from ATMs will be expensive for customers. According to the new rule, there are only three free withdrawals allowed from the ATM in metropolitan cities and five free withdrawals in non-metropolitan cities. If the transaction exceeds the limit, Rs 23 extra will be charged to the customers on every transaction.
Additional Charges On HDFC Credit Card Transactions
If you are an HDFC Credit Card holder, then payment through third-party apps like Paytm, PhonePe would charge you more. You will have to pay 1% fee for using third-party apps. Additional charges will be levied on utility bill payments, like electricity, water and mobile.
Change In Rates Of LPG Cylinders
Like every month, rates of LPG cylinders, including domestic and commercial cylinders, will be reviewed. Over following past few months, there has been a constant fluctuation in the rates of LPG cylinders. In such a situation, there might be a change in the rates from July 1, which can affect your pocket.
