81-Year-Old Meets Schoolmate PM Modi, Seeks CBI Probe In Decades-Long Land Dispute Case; Civic Body Schedules Hearing

Mumbai: An 81-year-old resident of Mumbai's Mira Road has sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention in a decades-old land dispute, requesting a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter.

Ex-Schoolmate Seeks PM Modi's Help

Asgarali Vohra, who studied with PM Modi at B N School in Gujarat's Vadnagar, met him on September 8 to seek his help with the dispute.

Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik released photographs and a press note about the meeting. Following a positive response from the Prime Minister, Vohra expressed hope of getting justice, according to a report by The Times of India.

About The Case

The case stems from a 2,810-square-meter plot of land in Navghar, Bhayander East, which Vohra purchased through a registered agreement in 1989. Vohra alleged that in 2011, Swayam Builders and Seven Eleven Constructions, a firm associated with BJP MLA Narendra Mehta, encroached upon his property.

He further alleged that forged documents were prepared in connection with the property while keeping him unaware. The land was divided into two portions, and possession was recorded in the names of the two companies.

FIR Registered In 2015

While an FIR was registered in 2015, the case remains pending before the court. Vohra said he had spent years approaching various government authorities, including the revenue department, municipal officials, and the police, to resolve the matter.

Hearing Scheduled For September 16

Following PM Modi's intervention, the municipal administration has taken note of the case, the report added. A hearing has been scheduled for September 16, with representatives from both Swayam Builders and Seven Eleven Constructions directed to appear before the authorities.
