Delhi HC Issues Notice To CJP Leaders, Including Dipke Over Woman's Morphed Photo With PM; Meta Asked To Remove It

The Delhi High Court on Friday issued notices to Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders - Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka and Ratna Singh in the case linked to a morphed image of a woman. While hearing the plea filed by the woman whose alleged morphed images with Prime Minister Narendra Modi were circulated during the CJP protest, the High Court directed the Delhi Police to provide complete protection to the woman.

The court sought a reply from CJP leaders Dipke, Das, Ranka and Singh, who have been named as private respondents in the petition.

"Matter not of one lady but of the country's PM. Will make sure Delhi Police is sensitive to it," said the High Court.

The woman had approached the court alleging threats following the circulation of allegedly morphed and objectionable photographs linked to a demonstration by activists associated with the CJP.  The court passed the directions while dealing with a criminal writ petition filed by the woman, represented by advocate Umesh Chandra Sharma. The petition seeks protection to the petitioner and directions for removal of allegedly morphed/deepfake content from social media and other online platforms.

Woman's Details Must Be Kept Confidential: HC

Justice Girish directed that the petitioner’s residential address be kept confidential and conveyed only to the concerned police officials for ensuring her safety.

Meta Asked To Remove Posts

The court also directed Meta to immediately remove the alleged objectionable content from social media platforms managed by it after receiving the relevant web links from the investigating agency.

The High Court asked the Delhi Police to file a status report within a week, detailing the action taken in the FIR, and another status report within two weeks regarding the protection provided to the petitioner.
