Four Workers Dead In Boiler Explosion After Chemical Factory Catches Fire In Gujarat's Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar Factory Blast: Four workers were killed in a boiler explosion at Kovika Colour Company in Chhatral GIDC, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on Thursday. The explosion took place after the factory caught fire.

"Four people were dead in a boiler explosion at Kovika Colour Company in Chhatral GIDC, where a fire broke out," said Gandhinagar SP Ravi Teja Vasamsetty.

All four victims were migrant workers working in the company, located in the Chhatral Industrial Area of Gandhinagar. The subdivision officer, fire brigade, and police officers arrived at the spot.

The boiler exploded with a bang at the factory in Gandhinagar GIDC Industrial Area in the afternoon, prompting management to call the fire brigade team. The rescue team launched relief and rescue operations, taking victims to the nearby hospital.

How The Incident Unfolded

The chemical company was operating as usual on Thursday. The pressure in the boiler nozzle of the chemical plant suddenly increased, as a result of which the boiler exploded with a loud sound. The explosion was so powerful that staff working around the boiler were thrown into the air and crashed against the factory wall. All four workers were seriously injured in the incident and died on the spot.

Upon receiving information about the incident, a team including Kalol Taluka Police, Fire Brigade, Mamlatdar and FSL immediately reached the spot. The deceased have been identified as Vinod Shind, Teda Dehari, Labhan Meena and Sikandar Dehari.

In the preliminary investigation, it was found that the company has the required fire NOC. The exact reason for the blast will be revealed only after the FSL report. An investigation into the cause of the accident has also been launched.

4 Workers Suffer Burn Injuries After Boiler Explosion In Surat

Two days ago, a similar boiler explosion incident took place in a factory called Krishna Silk Mill located on Udhna Road in Surat. After the boiler explosion, a fire broke out at the plant, leaving at least four workers injured. The workers sustained over 50 per cent burn injuries. They were taken to New Civil Hospital for treatment.
