The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday conducted simultaneous raids in four states, including Bihar, against the People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI). Pramod Pandey's home in the Dhanrua police station area of the state was raided. The NIA team arrested Pramod Pandey's son Sonu Pandey and searched the house.
During the four-hour raid, an Indian Army uniform, two illegal weapons, incriminating equipment, and several documents, cash, and jewelery were seized. The NIA DSP Mahendra Singh Rana led the team in Bihar. On October 11, this year, the NIA filed a case under various sections after receiving information about PLFI cadres financing terrorist activities through extortion.
Following this, facts were gathered, and after developing a raid strategy based on the facts, the NIA team raided 23 locations across the country at the same time on Friday. All of the accused and suspects charged today are said to be cadres and supporters of the PLFI, a banned terrorist organization in Jharkhand. They are involved in plots to commit violent incidents and terrorist acts. Extortion and levy recovery cases have also been filed against them.
The NIA has also named Sonu of Barani village in the FIR. According to the information, the NIA investigation has so far revealed that the banned organization's cadres used to extort money from coal traders, transporters, railway contractors, and traders.
They were also planning terror attacks on security forces, murder, arson, and the use of explosives and IEDs. The investigation also uncovered a plot by PLFI leaders, cadres, and supporters to resurrect and expand the organization in Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and other PLFI-affected states.
