Pahalgam Terror Attack: For the third consecutive day, tensions remained high along the Line of Control (LoC) as Pakistan Army posts opened unprovoked small arms fire on the night of 26-27 April. The firing took place in areas opposite the Tutmari Gali and Rampur sectors. Indian Army troops responded swiftly with appropriate firepower, officials confirmed on Sunday.

Security along the LoC and in the Kashmir valley has been on high alert following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which killed 26 people, mostly tourists. Anti-terror operations have been intensified across the region.

Meanwhile, Kulgam Police, along with the Army and CRPF, arrested two terrorist associates during a routine checkpoint at Matalhama Chowk Thokerpora, Qaimoh. The individuals have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Salam Bhat and Mohd Ismail Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, both residents of Thokerpora.

During the search, security forces recovered two pistols, two pistol magazines and 25 rounds of ammunition from their possession. A case has been registered under relevant laws at Police Station Qaimoh and further investigations are underway.

In another development, the house of a suspect linked to the Pahalgam attack was demolished in Kulgam district. Officials said that the house belonged to Zakir Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Mutalhama village, who is believed to have been involved in the deadly assault. Authorities noted that Ganie has been active in militant activities since 2023.

Security agencies continue to maintain strict vigil across the region to prevent further incidents.
