Sonam Raghuvanshi, who killed her husband Raja Raghuvanshi during their honeymoon in Meghalaya, has now completed one month in Shillong jail. However, sources reveal that she has shown no remorse for her actions, and none of her family members have visited her so far.

According to NDTV, Sonam has adapted to jail life and bonded with other women inmates. She reportedly wakes up at the same time every morning and strictly follows the jail routine as per the manual.

Sonam Raghuvanshi Inside Jail

Sources reveal that the murder-accused Sonam remains tight-lipped in jail, refusing to speak about her crime or personal life with either fellow inmates or prison staff. She is currently housed near the jail warden’s office and shares her space with two other under-trial women prisoners.

So far, Sonam has not been given any specific duties. However, jail officials plan to involve her in skill development activities such as sewing. She is also allowed to watch television daily.

Although jail rules permit her to meet or speak with family members, no one has contacted or visited her since her arrest.

Shillong Jail houses a total of 496 inmates, including 20 women. Sonam is the second female prisoner there charged with murder. Her movements are being closely monitored through CCTV surveillance.

Raja Raghuvanshi Honeymoon Murder Case

Sonam and Raja were married on May 11. Just nine days later, on May 20, they left for their honeymoon in Meghalaya with a one-way ticket. For three days, the couple travelled across the Northeast before going “missing,” prompting their families to alert the police.

What began as a search for the couple soon became a murder investigation when Raja’s body was discovered in a deep gorge on June 2 ten days after the alleged killing.

On the night of June 7, Sonam was found unconscious at a roadside ‘dhaba’ in Ghazipur. She was taken to Ghazipur Medical College for treatment, where she surrendered to the police. Her lover Raj and two other accomplices were later arrested.

Following the incident, Sonam’s brother announced that the family had severed all ties with her. He also extended support to Raja’s grieving family and pledged to stand by them in their pursuit of justice.
