The Kashmir zone police on Saturday informed that Indian troops were attacked in the Khanyar area of Srinagar district during a search operation, resulting in an encounter with the terrorists.
"A cordon & search operation in the Khanyar area of district Srinagar has resulted in an exchange of fire. Police & security forces are on the job," the Kashmir zone police wrote on microblogging site X.

In a post on X, the Indian Army on Saturday said that terrorists opened fire on security personnel and escaped into the jungle. "On 01 November 2024 late evening, suspicious movement was spotted, in gen area Panar of Bandipora, by alert troops. On being challenged, terrorists opened indiscriminate fire and escaped into the jungle. Search Operation underway," Chinar Corps, Indian Army posted on X.

Earlier, on Friday, terrorists shot two migrant laborers in the Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. This was the second incident in less than two weeks as a doctor and six construction workers were killed in a terrorist attack in Ganderbal district. Sufiyan and Usman, Uttar Pradesh residents, were attacked in the Mazhama area of Magam. They both were rushed to the hospital, PTI reported.

The Union Territory has witnessed several cases of targeted killings in recent months. This is the fifth attack by terrorists in the Kashmir Valley since the formation of an elected government, led-by Omar Abdullah. Kavinder Gupta, former Deputy CM & BJP leader claimed that there are people working on the instructions of Pakistan. "There are some people here who are working as per the instructions of Pakistan, this is a cowardly attack on a festive occasion. This is wrong...there is a need to identify people who are carrying out these attacks. There are so many people here who still work as Over Ground Workers and Underground Workers," Gupta was quoted as saying by ANI.
