Tamil Nadu Bus Accident: In Tamil Nadu’s Sivaganga district, at least eleven people died on Sunday after two government buses collided head-on near Tirupattur. The crash occurred in Kummangudi, a few kilometres from Pillaiyarpatti and left nearly twenty passengers injured. Officials said rescue operations began within minutes of the incident.

Police stated that one of the buses was travelling from Tiruppur towards Karaikudi, while the second vehicle was headed to Dindigul from Karaikudi. The impact was severe, trapping several passengers inside the damaged buses. Local residents were the first to reach the site and helped pull out those injured before emergency teams arrived.

The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, including the Sivagangai Government Hospital. Authorities said the death toll could increase as some passengers remain in critical condition.

Videos shared online showed the scale of destruction, with bodies lined up on the roadside and injured survivors seen climbing out of shattered bus sections. One clip showed a woman jumping out from the wrecked front of the vehicle, while another injured passenger sat bleeding beside the road.

A formal investigation has been launched to determine what caused the collision. Emergency crews remain at the spot and traffic movement along the stretch has been temporarily restricted.
