Tamil Nadu Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday stated that several districts of Tamil Nadu are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall for the next few days. The weather department stated that the coastal regions are set to receive thunderstorms and gusty winds along with heavy rainfall. It further stated that the continuous rainfall will provide relief from the scorching heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius. The IMD also stated that the excessive rainfall is also set to lead to issues like waterlogging in several key cities. The weather department has also advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
While providing details, the weather department stated that several districts, including Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, and Sivaganga, are set to witness moderate to heavy rainfall on Monday and Tuesday. It further stated that several other coastal districts are likely to receive thunderstorms and strong surface winds for the next few days. Earlier on Friday, several key districts, including Ranipet, Arcot, Panapakkam, Nemili, Walajapet, Kaveripakkam, Sholinghur, and Arakkonam, received heavy rain, leading to waterlogging in key areas of these cities.

However, the IMD also stated that farmers of Thanjavur, Tiruvaiyaru, Ayyampettai, Papanasam, Kumbakonam, and Thiruvidaimarudur got relief due to the rainfall. The farmers stated that the rainfall was timely, adding that it will provide convenience as the crops will get the necessary water. Apart from this, several villages of Virudhunagar district, including Aruppukkottai, Palayampatti, Sukilanatham, Hovhanki, and Panthalagudi.
The weather department also stated that the capital city, Chennai, will witness moderate rainfall for the next few days. While the maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at 32 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 27 degrees Celsius.
