The man accused of raping a French woman tourist in Udaipur has now alleged that he was “honey trapped” by the victim. As police escorted him for legal proceedings, the accused identified as Siddharth told reporters, “Mere saath honeytrap hua hai sir (I have been honey trapped),” before being silenced by officials.

Siddharth, whose real name is Pushpraj Ojha, was arrested from his Chittorgarh residence after a French national filed a complaint against him. In her FIR, the woman alleged that Siddharth had taken her to his apartment under the guise of showing her around the city and then raped her.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred on Monday (June 23), shortly after the two met at a gathering at The Greek Farm Cafe and Restro near Tiger Hill. She claimed that he invited her to his flat after the party and that despite her repeated requests to return to her hotel, he refused. She also stated that her phone had run out of battery at the time.

Once at his apartment, the woman alleged Siddharth tried to force physical contact. When she resisted, he allegedly sexually assaulted her. She later admitted herself to a private hospital before filing a formal complaint.

Siddharth, however, maintains that the allegations are false and part of a conspiracy. “I didn’t rape her… It’s a conspiracy that has been hatched against me by some industry people as I am an outsider. I was going to surrender only when the police picked me up today,” he said, according to a report by Hindustan Times.

Udaipur Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal told the paper that the French tourist had been working as a background dancer and actor with several Indian brands. She reportedly arrived in Udaipur on Sunday for a shoot with a top electronics company where Siddharth was allegedly part of the same crew.
