Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday flagged off India’s first Namo Bharat Rapid Rail which will connect Ahmedabad and Bhuj in Gujarat, to enhance connectivity and convenience for passengers in the region. Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel were also present on the occasion. The launch comes after the Indian Railways renamed the ‘Vande Metro’ service as ‘Namo Bharat Rapid Rail’ on Monday. Prime Minister will also launch several new Vande Bharat Express trains on key routes, including Nagpur to Secunderabad, Kolhapur to Pune, Agra Cantt to Banaras, Durg to Visakhapatnam, Pune to Hubballi, and the highly anticipated 20-coach Vande Bharat train running from Varanasi to Delhi.

With this launch, the Indian Railways has redefined the concept of metro travel. The inaugural journey commenced from Bhuj and will reach Ahmedabad, covering 359 kilometres in just five hours and 45 minutes. The train will run at a maximum speed of 110 kmph and will stop at several stations – Anjar, Gandhidham, Bhachau, Samakhiali, Halvad, Dhrangadhra, Viramgam, Chandlodiya, Sabarmati and Kalupur (Ahmedabad station).

Vande Metro Train Timings
The train is scheduled to depart from Bhuj at 5:05 am, with an expected arrival in Ahmedabad at 10:50 am, covering a distance of 360 kilometres, taking approximately five hours and 45 minutes. On its return, the Vande Metro will leave Ahmedabad at 5:30 pm and reach Bhuj at 11:10 pm the same evening.

Vande Metro Fare
The Vande Metro offers an affordable and convenient travel option with a minimum fare starting at Rs 30, including GST. However exact fare details are still being finalized, passengers can expect a one-way journey from Bhuj to Ahmedabad to cost approximately Rs 430, excluding GST. The Vande Metro train service will also provide flexible season ticket options: weekly, fortnightly, and monthly, priced at rates equivalent to Rs 7, Rs 15, and Rs 20 for single journeys, respectively.
