As winter gripped most of North India, several parts of the region fell prey to multiple accidents resulting due to low visibility. Several pockets of Delhi, Haryana, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh woke up in a blanket of fog with roads engulfed in a stagnant white cast that made it difficult for commuters and vehicles to continue plying on roads. Traffic snarls were a major issue on Wednesday as frequent fatal accidents marred the winter morning.
The dense fog has led to increased caution in railway operations, affecting the departure and arrival times of trains. Flight schedules are also being affected, with many flights experiencing delays and some possibly facing cancellations.
Here Are Some Of The Accidents That Left Families Across States Distraught:
-Yamuna Expressway vehicle pile-up: Several people were left injured in a 12-vehicle pile-up on Uttar Pradesh's Yamuna Expressway early on Wednesday morning due to dense fog that resulted in low visibility, authorities said. The incident occurred near the Dayanatpur Village of Jewar police station area. Noida police officers reached the spot and initiated an inquiry into the accident. All the injured persons were taken out of the damaged vehicles and have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
-Bareilly Tractor-Bike Collision: A speeding tractor trolley on Wednesday morning amid dense fog rammed into a bike hitting three people riding on the two-wheeler. Two women died on the spot as they came under the wheels of the trolley.
-Rohtak Bus Accident: As many as 14 people were injured when two buses collided near Kansala village on Rohtak's Sonipat road. The injured have been admitted to PGIMS Rohtak.
-Jhajjar School Bus Mishap: Around 10 children travelling in a school bus from Macchrauli to Jhajjar including the driver were injured as the vehicle collided with a tractor filled with cow fodder hit the bus from behind and overturned soon after.
-Agra Accident: An accident on the Agra-Firozabad National Highway soon turned into a golden opportunity for looters, who stole chickens after a vehicle carrying the birds collided with at least 16 other vehicles on the road. Visuals from the accident spot show passersby and locals going to the vehicles and taking out the chickens, after which they fled the spot.
In UP's Agra, a lorry carrying chickens met with an accident in a road pile up due to dense fog. Commuters can be seen grabbing chickens and fleeing from the spot. Some bundled them in sack. pic.twitter.com/hBUaFCjj7g
