Weather Update:  Residents of Chandigarh were forced to wade through knee-deep water after just two hours of rain on Sunday, exposing the city's lack of monsoon readiness. Around 110 mm of rain was reported in the city. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted severe to very heavy rain in Chandigarh, Haryana, and Punjab on Sunday and has issued an orange alert. Additionally, it is expected that rainfall will intensify from August 12 to August 15.

Two hours of nonstop rain caused serious waterlogging, inundating localities including Manimajra, Khuda Ali Sher, Khuda Lahora, and Maloya, as well as important roundabouts in sectors 34, 20, 27/28, and 35.

According to the local authority, more than Rs 1.25 crore was spent on cleaning road gullies to reduce flooding during the rainy season.
