Speculations emerged over the potential split in Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) after former chief minister Champai Soren's message on social media, where he expressed his frustration over the "insults and contempt" he faced within the party and hinted at exploring an "alternative path." However, the senior JMM leader clarified that his struggle is personal and not intended to harm the party but people are still speculating on what will happen if Champai Soren gets the support of some JMM legislators.

Amid rumours of JMM MLAs defecting to the BJP, the current political scenario suggests that the Hemant Soren-led government remains stable. While some BJP leaders claim that six JMM MLAs might switch sides, they have not provided any concrete evidence or names. The numbers still favor the ruling party and the possibility of a large-scale defection appears slim.

Speculation about Champai Soren leading a faction of JMM members, including half a dozen MLAs, has been quashed as key party members, including Ghatsila MLA Ramdas Soren and Minister Deepak Birua, publicly reaffirmed their loyalty to current JMM leadership Shibu Soren and Hemant Soren.

Discussions continue regarding what Champai Soren might gain if he joins the BJP. Reports suggest that the BJP may offer him a constitutional post and a preferred assembly seat for his son, positioning Champai Soren to secure his political legacy. Internal BJP meetings, mediated by a senior leader from Bengal, have reportedly taken place to negotiate these terms.

BJP leaders are cautiously observing Champai Soren's moves, especially those in Jamshedpur and surrounding areas where Champai Soren's influence could disrupt existing political equations. Notably, Champai Soren currently represents the Seraikela assembly seat and any decision to accommodate his son could cause friction within BJP ranks, particularly among those eyeing the same seats.
