Tips To Prevent Monsoon Acne: The monsoon season brings welcome relief from the scorching heat, but it also brings a host of skin problems. The increased humidity and moisture in the air can lead to clogged pores, oiliness, and breakouts. As a skincare expert, I've seen many patients struggle with monsoon acne. But don't worry, Dr Ajay Rana, Dermatologist, Surgeon & Aesthetic Physician shared some expert advice on how to combat it and achieve clear, radiant skin.

Tips To Prevent Monsoon Acne

First and foremost, it's essential to keep your skin clean. Wash your face twice a day with a gentle cleanser that suits your skin type. Be sure to remove all makeup and impurities before bedtime, as leaving them on can clog pores and lead to breakouts.

Exfoliating is also crucial during the monsoon season. Use a gentle exfoliating scrub or a chemical exfoliant containing alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs) one to two times a week. This will help unclog pores and remove dead skin cells, leaving your skin looking brighter and smoother.

Next, use a toner that balances your skin's pH and tightens pores. Look for an alcohol-free toner containing natural ingredients like witch hazel or tea tree oil, which have antibacterial properties that can help combat acne.

Moisturising may seem counterintuitive during the monsoon season, but it's essential to keep your skin hydrated. Use a lightweight, oil-free moisturiser that won't clog pores. This will help keep your skin healthy and balanced, reducing the likelihood of breakouts.

Staying hydrated is also crucial, as drinking plenty of water helps flush out toxins and keep your skin hydrated from the inside out. Aim to drink at least eight glasses of water a day, and avoid sugary drinks that can dehydrate your skin.

Finally, try to minimise makeup during the monsoon season, as it can clog pores and exacerbate acne. Instead, opt for light, water-based products that won't weigh your skin down.
