New Delhi | Jagran Lifestyle Desk: The first celestial event-- lunar eclipse of 2020 will commence on January 10 (Friday). The phase will begin at 10.30 pm and last till 2.35 am on January 11. The total duration of the eclipse is 4 hours, 5 minutes. Both lunar eclipse and solar eclipse is an astronomical event, although there are different religious views behind it. As per beliefs, a lot of works should be prohibited on the day of the eclipse. If a person breaks the rules, then his life may get affected. Pregnant women need to take special care during the lunar eclipse. It is advised to follow some rules during lunar eclipse to avoid its negative effects.
Here are some Do and Don'ts of lunar eclipse:
1. Keep Dhurva grass in foods to maintain their purity during this phase. It will prevent ill-effects of radiations. As per spiritual texts, Dhurba has the blessings of god Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.
2. Recite Mahamrityunjay mantra during this phase to prevent kaal-sarp dosh in your horoscope:
Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushti-Vardhanam,
Urvarukamiva Bandhanan Mrityormukshiya Mamritat ॥
or recite this:
Hare Ram Hare Ram, Ram Ram Hare Hare
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Har
3. This mantra is for Pregnant Women:
Om Devki Sudha Govinda Vasudev Jagatpate Dehime Taney Krishnan Twamaham Srnam Gatah
4. Only eat fresh cooked food after lunar eclipse
5. Take bath after the eclipse phase.
6. Donate something in the name of Pitra
7. Donate cow, piece of land or grains.
Don'ts of Lunar Eclipse 2020:
1. Do not sleep during the eclipse phase.
2. Avoid intercourse.
3. If you mistakenly eat food during eclipse, observe fast for three days.
4. Do not sit on an animal (elephant or horse) during the lunar eclipse
It will be the first lunar eclipse of the year. The eclipse will also take place on June 5, July 5 and November 30.
