Baramati Assembly Polls 2024: Baramati, one of the 21 constituencies in the Pune district, is set to be a key battleground in the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections. Known for being a stronghold of the Pawar family, the constituency has been a fortress for the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) for decades.
The forthcoming election is going to witness an electoral battle between veteran politician Ajit Pawar, who is a sitting MLA from here, and Yugendra Pawar, who is the grandnephew of Sharad Pawar.
About Baramati Constituency
The Baramati Assembly constituency, designated as Constituency Number 201, is located in the Pune district of Maharashtra. It is an unreserved seat. The constituency has a total of 8,647,172 registered voters, including 4,491,068 male voters, 4,155,330 female voters, and 774 third-gender voters.
For the upcoming 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections, there will be 386 polling stations set up across the constituency, as confirmed by the Chief Election Commissioner of Maharashtra.
Pawar Family Stronghold
Baramati is historically associated with the Pawar family, with Sharad Pawar having served as the Member of Parliament (MP) from this region for many years. His legacy is deeply ingrained in the constituency, which has seen consistent support for the family’s political endeavours. Ajit Pawar, Sharad’s nephew, has represented Baramati in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, and his influence in the region is formidable. In the 2019 Assembly elections, Ajit Pawar won the Baramati seat by a massive margin of 165,265 votes as a united NCP candidate.

Baramati Assembly Constituency Elections 2024: Poll Date
The polling for the Maharashtra Assembly election 2024 is scheduled for November 20 in a single phase. Across the state of Maharashtra, more than 100,000 polling stations will be established to facilitate voting.
