Mumbai Weather Update Today: Heavy rainfall continued to lash parts of Mumbai on Sunday, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a 'yellow alert' for the city. The forecast predicts a generally cloudy sky with heavy rain throughout the day, as the monsoon remains active across Maharashtra.
Alongside Mumbai, the IMD also issued a yellow alert for nearby districts like Palghar and Thane, while Raigad was placed under an 'orange alert' due to the likelihood of more intense downpours. These alerts serve as warnings for potential flooding and waterlogging in low-lying areas.
The rainfall followed Saturday's heavy showers, when Mumbai recorded significant downpour across various parts of the city. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Mumbai City saw an average of 6.80 mm of rain, while the eastern suburbs received 11.53 mm and the western suburbs 7.42 mm. On the same day, a red alert was issued for Palghar, and an orange alert was in effect for Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad.
