A pizza delivery boy was allegedly abused and assaulted by a customer for delivering his pizza late in Maharashtra’s Pune on Monday night. The accused, identified as Chetan Padwal (27), also opened fire in the air from his licensed pistol when two of the delivery boy’s colleagues came to intervene.
The incident took place in the Wagholi area of the city, where Padwal had placed an order with a popular pizza outlet. When the delivery man, Rushikesh Annapurve, reached the accused’s home, he was greeted with verbal abuse and physical assault, as reported by news agency PTI.
The delivery boy then called his colleagues for help but they too faced abuse from the accused. According to the police complaint, the accused then ran to his SUV parked near his rowhouse, took out his pistol and fired a shot in the air, creating panic among the residents of the housing society.
“When the delivery man, Rushikesh Annapurve, reached Padwal's home, the latter allegedly abused and assaulted him for delivering the order late. When two colleagues of Annapurve came to the spot to seek an explanation why he assaulted their staff, Padwal caught the collar of one of them and assaulted him as well,” said an official from Lonikand police station as reported by PTI.
