A 36-year-old man died in Maharashtra’s Pune on Friday after he was allegedly punched by his wife for refusing to take her to Dubai on his birthday. The incident occurred at the couple's apartment located in a posh residential society in the Wanwadi area when the woman requested her husband to celebrate her birthday in Dubai, police said.
The victim, identified as Nikhil Khanna, a businessman in the construction industry, had a love marriage with his wife, Renuka (38), six years ago, reported ANI.
A senior police officer from Wanwadi Police Station said that the initial probe showed that the couple had a quarrel because Nikhil failed to take Renuka to Dubai for her birthday and did not buy her costly gifts on her birthday and anniversary. Renuka was also angry with Nikhil for not agreeing to her desire to go to Delhi to join the birthday celebrations of some relatives.
The police further informed that "during the fight, Renuka punched Nikhil in the face. The impact of the punch was so hard that Nikhil's nose and some teeth were broken. With heavy bleeding, Nikhil lost consciousness."
Police have registered a case against Renuka and booked her under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
