Thane Traffic Advisory: In a bid to expedite the long-overdue Rail Over Bridge (ROB) at Palava Junction, near Nilje Railway Station, Central Railway, working with the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), has announced a traffic diversion. From midnight on February 5 until February 10, the Kalyan-Sheel Phata road will be closed to all vehicles to facilitate the completion of the railway segment of the bridge.
As a result of this closure, the Thane traffic department is advising drivers travelling between Kalyan, Dombivli, Ulhasnagar, Ambarnath and Navi Mumbai to seek alternative routes. The department also urged those coming from Navi Mumbai and nearby areas to adjust their travel plans accordingly.
Heavy vehicles heading from Kalyan to Navi Mumbai are advised to take the Katai-Badlapur Pipeline Road, which leads to Taloja. Light vehicle drivers are encouraged to use the Dombivli-Mankoli route, which connects to the Mumbai-Nashik Highway, allowing them to reach Navi Mumbai via the Mumbra bypass.
Commuters travelling from Sheel Phata to Kalyan should also consider taking the Taloja or Mankoli routes to avoid delays.

The ROB at Palava Junction, which serves as a crucial link between Kalyan and Navi Mumbai, has faced delays for several years due to various technical challenges. This has resulted in considerable traffic congestion for local commuters, many of whom have been advocating for the bridge's swift completion.
Central Railway has announced plans to install the girder and carry out essential technical work, after which MSRDC will complete the remaining construction. Once finished, this project is expected to alleviate congestion and enhance connectivity, benefiting thousands of commuters affected by the ongoing roadwork.
