Rama Ekadashi 2025 Date: In Sanatan Dharma, two Ekadashi fasts are observed every month and 24 Ekadashi fasts fall each year. The sacred fast of Ekadashi is dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu. You might be surprised to know that there is one special Ekadashi Vrat that is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, the consort of Shri Hari Vishnu. Hindu scriptures suggest that this Ekadashi vrat is known as Rama Ekadashi, which falls during the 11th day of Krishna Paksha in Kartik Maas. Moreover, offering prayers to the divine couple with a pure heart on this day is believed to eradicate financial challenges. This year, Rama Ekadashi falls on 17th October 2025.

This year, Rama Ekadashi 2025 Vrat Date falls on 17th October 2025, Friday. The Ekadashi tithi begins at 10:36 AM on 16th October 2025 and ends at 11:12 AM on 17th October 2025 as per the Hindu Panchang.

The Rama Ekadashi 2025 parana timings fall between 05:40 AM to 09:31 AM on 18th October 2025, Saturday.

Rama Ekadashi 2025: Significance

The sacred Brahma-Vaivarta Purana suggests that if a person fasts on this auspicious day, they can be freed from past sins or wrongdoings. Those who worship Lord Vishnu with a pure heart can attain salvation through the Lord's grace. Reciting mantras or kathas related to Lord Vishnu on this day can bring tremendous progress in life. Some devotees also perform Vishnu Puja or Lakshmi Puja to appease the Lord and seek the blessings of Maa Lakshmi.

Rama Ekadashi 2025: Rituals

Fasting is one of the most significant rituals on Rama Ekadashi. The vrat for Rama Ekadashi begins on Dashami, the day before Ekadashi. On this day, devotees also abstain from certain foods and eat only one sattvic meal before sunset.

On the Ekadashi day, devotees abstain from eating grains and other tamasic items. The fasting ritual ends with a ritual called Parana, which occurs on Dwadashi. Even for those who are not fasting, consuming rice and grains is strictly prohibited on any Ekadashi. On Rama Ekadashi, devotees wake up early in the morning and bathe in sacred water. Lord Vishnu is worshipped with devotion. Fruits, flowers, incense sticks, and incense are offered to Lord Vishnu.

Rama is another name for Goddess Lakshmi. Therefore, on this auspicious day, devotees pray to Goddess Lakshmi to appease Lord Vishnu and bless them with prosperity, health, and happiness. Those observing the Rama Ekadashi fast also stay awake all night. They participate in bhajans or kirtans. Reading the Bhagavad Gita is considered highly auspicious on Rama Ekadashi Vrat.

Rama Ekadashi 2025: Vrat Katha

Regarding the Rama Ekadashi Vrat Katha, the sacred Hindu scriptures suggest that there once was a king named Muchukunda, who ruled a prosperous kingdom and was friends with gods like Indra, Varuna, and Kubera. He was a great devotee of Lord Vishnu. He had a daughter named Chandrabhaga, who was married to Shobhan, the son of King Chandrasena. Chandrabhaga had been observing the Rama Ekadashi fast since childhood. Therefore, she requested her husband to observe the fast.

Shobhan obeyed, but was unable to control his desires and died before dawn. Then, a Brahmin named Soma Sharma was passing through Muchukunda's kingdom and saw the prince. Upon asking, Prince Shobhan asked the Brahmin for help. Soma Sharma informed Chandrabhaga and explained the entire incident.

He further stated that if someone could renounce all their virtues by observing the Rama Ekadashi fast, Prince Shobhan and his kingdom would return to the real world. Chandrabhaga then renounced all her virtues to bring her husband back. After this, the couple restored happiness in their lives.
