India added another shooting medal to its Asian Games 2026 tally on Saturday as Tilottama Sen, Vidarsa Vinod and Ashi Chouksey secured the silver medal in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions team event.
The Indian trio finished second with an aggregate score of 1763, while China claimed gold with a Games record of 1773. Kazakhstan completed the podium with bronze after scoring 1754.
The result also brought further success in the individual event, with Tilottama and Vidarsa progressing to the eight-shooter final after producing strong performances across the qualification stages.

India Finish Second Behind China
India remained in contention throughout the team qualification and eventually secured the silver medal with 1763 points. China dominated the event with 1773, setting a new Games record, while Kazakhstan finished third with 1754.
The women’s 50m rifle 3 positions event tests shooters across three different positions, kneeling, prone and standing, making consistency across all three stages crucial.

Tilottama, Vidarsa Reach Individual Final
Tilottama Sen led India’s individual challenge and finished the qualification with 590 points to enter the eight-women final in third position.
The 107th-ranked Tilottama was consistent through the three stages and produced a particularly strong standing series to move into the top three.
Vidarsa Vinod, ranked 15th in the world, also secured her place in the final after making an impressive recovery during qualification. She finished sixth with a total of 588.
Vidarsa was not among the leading shooters for much of the qualification but produced enough in the closing stages to secure one of the eight available final spots.
Ashi Chouksey Misses Out Narrowly
Ashi Chouksey also remained in contention during the qualification. After the kneeling and prone stages, she and Tilottama had identical scores of 395.
However, Ashi had 25 inner 10s compared to Tilottama’s 23 at that stage. While Tilottama strengthened her position with a strong standing series, Ashi finished with 585 points and narrowly missed out on the individual final.
The individual final will therefore feature two Indian shooters, with Tilottama and Vidarsa now carrying the country’s medal hopes in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions event.
