Paris Paralympics 2024: India's para-athlete Praveen Kumar clinched the gold medal in the men's high jump T-64 event at the ongoing quadrennial event on Friday. He jumped at the distance of 2.08m and clinched his second consecutive Paralympic medal, as he had won the silver medal at the previous edition by registering a personal best record of 2.07m.
The youngster hailing from Noida, became just the second Indian after Mariyappan Thangavelu to have won a gold medal in the Paralympic high jump event. USA's Derek Loccident won the silver by jumping at a distance of 2.06m jump, whereas Uzbekistan's Temurbek Giyazov settled with the bronze medal by jumping at a distance of 2.03m.

With this medal, he has become the third Indian high-jumper to have clinched a medal in Paris after Sharad Kumar, who had won the silver, and Mariyappan Thangavelu, who had won the bronze in this category.

The country's medal tally at the Paris Paralympics 2024 has now reached 26, which includes six gold, nine silver, and 11 bronze medals.
