OpenAI's ChatGPT has tweaked the tech landscape to rethink the potential of AI ever since its debut last year. Top tech companies, including Microsoft and Google, have already unveiled their plans to infuse AI into their products. And it seems Apple may be the next. While rumours of the Cupertino-based tech giant working on AI engulfed the technological world, CEO Tim Cook has recently confirmed that the company is investing in artificial intelligence.

In the latest earnings call for the last quarter of 2023, the Apple boss was questioned about the experimentations around AI. According to 9To5Mac, the CEO went on to emphasise the services like Crash Detection, ECG and Personal Voice in Apple's smartwatch offerings that use AI and ML to function and have been built using this technology.

When asked about generative AI offerings (similar to ChatGPT), he said: "Obviously, we have work going on." While Cook did not share detailed plans, he added that the innovations will happen responsibly.

"I'm not going to get into detail about what it is, because as you know, we really don't do that. But you can bet that we're investing. We're investing quite a bit. We're going to do it responsibly. You will see product advancements over time where those technologies are at the heart of them," Cook was quoted as saying in the report.

For the unversed, this is not the first time the CEO has discussed AI. In an interview with Reuters a while ago, he added the tech giant has been "doing research across a wide range of AI technologies, including generative AI, for years." Plus, he appreciated the potential of the technology while highlighting that the accompanying issues need proper redressal.
