JE Technology Desk: Google Workspace apps are widely popular around the globe for their simplistic user interface and feature-rich UI. The tech giant regularly brings enhancements to these apps to further improve them. In the latest update, Google announced that users can now customise zoom settings in Google Slides by entering a custom percentage value, according to a Google Workspace Updates blog. Further, the company also announced wider availability of third-party smart chips in Docs and updates to Classroom.

The new zoom setting in the search giant's program allows users to control the view of a project they are working on. Users can enter a custom digit (as a percentage value) in the box to set the zoom capacity. Moreover, they can also choose a preset from the drop-down menu at the top.

"You can now customise your views in Google Slides with new custom zoom settings that give you the ability to input your desired zoom per cent or use the preset zoom percentages in the drop-down menu at the top of your presentation," the blog reads.

The company also announced feature additions to Google Classroom and Docs.

Google Classroom

Among notable announcements is the functionality to run Google Classroom originality reports on MS Word (.docx) files for educators. This can scan the work of students for authenticity and identify "uncited content and plagiarism" by comparing the work with the content on the internet. Moreover, it announced the addition of rich text formatting for comments in the app.

The tech giant added that comments now support bold, italicise, and underline formatting with bullet lists for organising information.

Google Docs

The company announced that third-party smart chips in Docs will now be available to everyone using the program.

Users can install the "partner's add-on" from the Workspace Marketplace. To use smart chips, paste a link from the source in a Google Docs file and select "tab". A smart chip will be added to the document that "previews critical information" without directly visiting the link. The feature will be available to all personal Google Accounts and Workspace users.
