Google Workspace apps are famous across the world for their ease of usability and rich feature set for personal and work purposes. To upscale the user experience, the company adds new features across its product line regularly. The company has now introduced two new Smart chip updates in Google Sheets and an updated menu in Google Drive.

Google Sheets: Smarter Location Chips

After introducing a smart canvas that enabled users to view a Google Maps location from the chip in Sheets, the company now allows bulk conversion of links into location chips. According to the Google Workspace Updates blog, this can be done after selecting the location links and heading to "Insert", then clicking the "Smart chips" and finally tapping the option to "Convert to place chip". It will help a user organise data for events where multiple locations are involved. The feature visibility might take over 15 days.

Google Sheets: Pre-fill Feature In Dropdown Chips

After selecting a cell range, head to "Insert" and click "Dropdown" to convert data into pre-fill dropdown values. A sidebar will appear on the right that can be used to adjust the style and other options before hitting "Done".

Google Drive: Menu Reorganisation

After introducing a new interface for Drive, Docs, Slides and other apps, the company is now bringing a new menu format to Google Drive. Once the user right-clicks a file or folder, a new menu format with reordered and renamed items will appear. The design and UI interface remain unchanged. The sub-menus have also been revamped, the blog added.

The company also shared an "updated timeline for upgrading to the in-line threaded experience in Google Chat." It will start in September 2023 and shall be complete by the first quarter of next year.
