Apple has rolled out the second release candidate of iOS 26.2 for both developers and public beta testers, signalling that the final update may arrive sooner than expected. RC versions usually represent the near final build, and this one shifts from the earlier 23C52 to the new 23C54. While it looks like a routine refinement, several features inside this update hint at Apple’s evolving design direction.

Lock Screen

The Liquid Glass slider is the standout addition. Users will now be able to adjust the transparency of the Lock Screen clock, giving the interface a smoother, more layered look that fits Apple’s new visual language.

AirPods

With iOS 26.2, AirPods will support Live Translation in the European Union. This extends the real time translation ecosystem Apple has been expanding across its devices.

Reminders

The Reminders app is expected to support alarms for due tasks, making time sensitive reminders more practical for daily use.

Measure App

One of the biggest visual shifts appears in the Measure app. The level tool has been redesigned with a Liquid Glass aesthetic. Instead of the traditional white circle indicators, users will now see translucent, fluid bubbles that match the design showcased at WWDC. It is a small change, but clearly part of Apple’s broader UI transition.

Menu Animations

Menu interactions across the system now feel quicker and bouncier. Pop out menus respond more naturally, aligning with the motion Apple first demonstrated at WWDC but has been slowly implementing across updates.

Games App

Gamers get more functional upgrades. The library can now sort by size in addition to name and recent. Real time score updates and improved controller navigation round out the gaming enhancements.

CarPlay

CarPlay users gain the ability to disable pinned conversations in Messages. This small change gives drivers more control over how communication appears in their vehicle interface.

Enhanced Safety Alerts

Apple has expanded its explanation of Enhanced Safety Alerts. The feature delivers emergency notifications for events like floods and earthquakes. The system uses device location to understand the user’s region but does not store this information permanently.

The update may seem incremental, but the underlying visual changes point to something larger in the pipeline. Apple appears to be refining its Liquid Glass era one subtle layer at a time.
