iPhone 15 Price Cut: A new set of discounts on Amazon has made the iPhone 15 much more interesting. The green variant now begins at Rs 50,990, down from the official Rs 59,900. Other colours are about Rs 1,000 more. Also, unlike typical deals, this price drop doesn't need any coupons, bank offers, or exchanges. The price now is closer to the iPhone 16e, and many buyers will start to wonder if the older model makes sense going into December 2024.

Refined Design and Durability

It's not a design overhaul, but the subtleties of the iPhone 15 make a difference. Softer edges and matte finishes add to comfort, and refreshed colour options are more premium too. Add in that Ceramic Shield front and strong water resistance, and this is a phone that's durable enough for those who might hold onto it for several years.

Display, Dynamic Island and USB-C

The display remains 60 Hz but still impresses in terms of brightness and colour accuracy, with HDR content looking rich. Dynamic Island continues to offer a smooth, modern interface for notifications and media controls. A shift to USB-C is a practical upgrade that lets users charge the phone with standard cables, connect external storage, and avoid juggling multiple adapters.

Performance and Camera Features

The iPhone 15 handles apps and heavier tasks just fine in day-to-day use, while the battery easily lasts a whole day. The main camera takes sharp, vivid images, and Apple's stabilisation and Cinematic Mode are among the best in the business. Extended software support ensures years of the device staying up to date.

Trade-offs compared to newer devices

But the compromises are several with the iPhone 15, with its faster hardware, more RAM, a newer modem, and the upcoming AI features for which the iPhone 16e is going to offer support. Its 60Hz display feels old, and the slower charging might be off-putting for many. Plus, the effective price goes up because of its missing charger. Competing devices from OnePlus 13 or Vivo X200 offer smoother screens, fast charging, and camera versatility at the same price or for cheaper. And then there's the fact that the iPhone 15 doesn't have a telephoto lens, while the ultrawide camera doesn't have autofocus, which really limits the photography flexibility.

Verdict

For the price that it comes at, the iPhone 15 does have good credentials for the premium design and can be used reliably with a strong camera. Yet, for buyers looking to buy future-ready hardware or more versatile photography, the thought of newer Apple models – or rivals from other brands – might be inescapable.
