Samsung has always been good at pushing timely updates, if we neglect the One UI 7 update. Now, some reports have surfaced online that revealing Samsung S25 running on One UI 8 running on top of Android 16. It means even though being late for One UI 7 update, Samsung is still looking forward for One UI 8 release alongside. As Google is trying to push its Android update to the start of the year, moving from the year-end to the start. In this article, we will discuss the details that have been revealed in this One UI 8 leaks. So without any further ado, let’s get into the article.

One UI 8 Running on Samsung S25

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Made its first appearance on Geekbench revealing 32% of its performance. Now we can conclude some details from the benchmarks that have been spotted. For starters, Samsung Galaxy S25 was running on One UI 8 based on Android 16. And as it was spotted on benchmarking tests, the smartphone achieved a decent performance score.

The Galaxy S25 has been spotted on Geekbench running One UI 8, while Samsung's server revealed an Android 16 test build for the S25 Ultra. But a point to note here is that even before the One UI 7 rollout, Samsung was already working on the new OS version.

In January, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 series, a new line of flagship devices that feature a pre-installed operating system based on Android 15, specifically One UI 7.0. Notably, the devices are slated to receive a major software upgrade in the form of One UI 8.0, which will be powered by Android 16.

Ironically, Samsung is pretty late than its usual update releases as its Android 15-based One UI 7’s stable release is yet to be pushed. But we think, that getting late in One UI 7 won’t affect the release of One UI 8. This indicates an early launch of One UI 8 Beta, or it could return to its usual distribution timeframe (Beta in Q3, Stable in Q4).

The Samsung S25 Global variant achieved single-core and multi-core scores of 3135 and 9938 respectively, matching the results of the S25 Ultra running One UI 7.0. It's likely that further optimization will lead to even better performance over development time.

One UI 8 Features – Speculation

Just like major One UI updates, One UI 8 will introduce new features that will be designed by Samsung based on the Google’s AOSP version. As per rumours, One UI 8 could bring third-party widget support for lockscreen, multitasking improvements and better Samsung DeX display controls. Additionally, they might even bring some new AI features as well.

One UI 8 Compatible Devices – Expected

Samsung promised at least 3 major OS upgrades for modern Galaxy devices, most budget and mid-range phones and tablets launched in 2023 and later will be eligible for One UI 8.0. All flagship smartphones launched in 2022 and later are eligible as well.

One UI 8 Launch Date – Expected

Considering Google pushing their Android update earlier might lead Samsung to push their update early as well. So One UI 8 is also expected launch sooner that earlier updates. However, there is no official confirmation from the company.
