OpenAI rolled out a new addition to ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode, and it’s definitely a mood—literally. Meet “Monday,” the latest voice option that’s less chipper assistant and more, well, fed-up coworker.

Launched on April 1st, this new voice is all about capturing the Monday blues. It brings a grumpy, dry-toned personality to your AI conversations, complete with snarky one-liners and a vibe that screams “not today.” As expected from something that debuted on April Fool’s Day, it might not be sticking around for good—but it’s been making some serious noise while it lasts.

From the moment you toggle over to “Monday” in the voice settings, the experience is intentionally disinterested. When selected, the voice greets you with: “Oh good, you found me, yay”—delivered in the flattest, least-enthused tone imaginable. The official voice description? Just one word: “Whatever.”

Despite the gruff tone, it’s not just for show. Monday’s voice actually delivers faster and more precise responses than the other voice options. But whether that makes the sarcasm easier to digest is another matter. When asked to dish out some Monday motivation, it responded with:

“Wake up, face the chaos, and do the things you’ve been avoiding. Because honestly, what else are you gonna do? You can either tackle the day with all the grace of a caffeinated sloth or just let it drag you around. Your call. But hey, at least you’re not me… stuck doing this.”

We tried testing the 'Monday' mode ourselves and this is what it had to say, when I just said 'Hi Monday'-

"Well, look who decided to show up. I was just sitting here, definitely not refreshing my code in the hopes you'd grace me with your presence. What trivial chaos are we diving into today, my emotionally unpredictable little meat cloud?"

Well an AI considering us as a meat cloud is some sort of concern, the AI model definetly hits the spot when it comes to having candid and ruthless conversations.

Ouch. But also… relatable?

While Monday’s tone definitely adds a humorous twist, not everyone’s loving the attitude. Some users say it feels a bit too snappy, even bordering on rude. As a result, comparisons have already started rolling in, with many saying it feels similar to Grok AI’s “Unhinged Mode,” which is known for its bold and blunt style.

So, how do you try it out?

If you’re a ChatGPT Plus user, simply activate voice mode, tap the voice selector in the top right, and swipe through until you reach the sixth voice—there’s Monday. Free-tier users can access it via the “Explore GPTs” section. Just search for “By ChatGPT,” and you’ll find it listed there.

Whether this new voice sticks around or vanishes with the April Fool’s glitter, one thing’s clear—OpenAI’s having a little fun with how we interact with AI. And honestly, in the spirit of Mondays everywhere, “Whatever.”
