WHILE Google Pixel 7a is all box-packed to be announced at the Google I/O event on May 10, before its official debut, a YouTuber reportedly dismantled the upcoming phone in a video published on PBKreviews. The channel, which has over one lakh subscribers, claims the phone is none other than the upcoming 'a' series mobile.
The host starts by removing the SIM tray. For ease of repairability, the phone can be dismantled from the front and back. Moving on, we get to see the internals after the plastic back housing is out of the video frame. The plastic panel draws design inspiration from the Pixel 7's dual camera design.
What did the YouTuber find out?
On the inside, a wireless charging coil and Near Field Communication (NFC) antenna are there in the middle of the phone housing. More notable findings include a 4,385mAh battery with pull tabs for easy separation from the phone for a replacement or repair.
Later, we get to see the internals from the front as the host dislocates the screen. The front panel comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The main motherboard has a 64MP primary OIS camera, 13MP ultra-wide on the back and a 13MP front camera. After the disassembly and a detailed walk-around of the internals, the host rates it 7.5 out of 10 in terms of repairability. This is better compared to the other '7' series phones. The phone scores the least in the miscellaneous parts replacement category.
Google Pixel 7a first impressions
In another instance, the Pixel 7a's Arctic Blue leaked in a first look, hands-on video on the YouTube channel - munchy. The reported handset came with similar specifications as tipped by the rumour mill. It has a 6.1-inch FHD+ 90Hz OLED display and Google's Tensor G2 chip. The host notes the Google Pixel 7a has larger screen bezels than its predecessor Pixel 6a.
Meanwhile, the Google Pixel 7a could be priced somewhere around Rs 45,000. Other than the Pixel 7a, we will get to rest our eyes on the Google Pixel Fold at the event (at least virtually). The Pixel Fold, as per leaks, will likely start from $1,799 (which translates close to Rs 1.5 lakh after price conversion).
