Realme has officially released the GT 8 Pro in China, debuting one of its most daring smartphone designs yet. The highlight is the Ricoh-tuned 50-megapixel primary camera, but what really makes this flagship special is its completely customisable camera island that can be replaced with alternative styles.

Realme's new design ethos means users can actually swap out the appearance of their phone's rear camera module. The two Torx screws and magnetic guides hold the modular camera island in place, allowing it to be easily removed and replaced quickly. Realme intends to offer several interchangeable modules via its official retail stores, such as square, circular, and even robotic-inspired versions. To make the experience more engaging, the company has partnered with MakerWorld to distribute a 3D model file (.3mf) and challenge users to design and share their own designs as part of an open creative community challenge.

The triple rear cameras on the GT 8 Pro are courtesy of a fresh collaboration with Ricoh. The 50-megapixel primary sensor (1/1.56-inch, f/1.8) allows Ricoh GR's legendary focal lengths—28 mm and 40 mm—to be supported, besides five signature colour tones: Positive, Negative, High-contrast B&W, Standard, and Monochrome. It's accompanied by a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and up to 12x lossless zoom and a 50-megapixel ultra wide-angle camera with a 116-degree field of view.

Under the hood, the Realme GT 8 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Extreme Edition chipset, paired with as much as 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. The phone also features Realme's self-designed R1 graphics chip to boost the frame rate of games and the graphics quality. Despite its powerful 7,000mAh battery, the phone is remarkably thin at 8.2mm, offering 120W wired and 50W wireless charging.

The 6.78-inch QHD+ AMOLED screen is backed with a 144 Hz refresh rate and takes a brilliant 4,000 nits of localised brightness at its peak. The phone has IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings to ensure additional dust and water protection.
