Samsung One UI Update: Samsung has commenced the One UI 8.5 beta rollout for the Galaxy S25 series! The update has started rolling out to users in Samsung’s beta program and represents the next stage of the company’s software journey, with significant tweaks to customisation, Galaxy AI features, and connectivity, as well as privacy.
The beta as of now is out there in a handful of countries where the Among Us feature has landed — including India, South Korea, the US, the UK, Germany and Poland — but with more to come.

Galaxy S25 Series Is First in Line
The One UI 8.5 beta is now starting its rollout to several devices for some users, with reports arriving from numerous members on X’s end, as well as Max Jambor of SamMobile:
- Galaxy S25
- Galaxy S25+
- Galaxy S25 Ultra
The update brings firmware versions S938BXXU7ZYL7, S938BOXM7ZYL7 and S938BXXU7CYL7 to Germany, along with the Android security patch for December 2025. It is approximately 4GB in size, so Wi-Fi users should have that before installation.
What’s New in One UI 8.5 Beta
Samsung is clearly emphasising refinement over a drastic redesign, but the changes it has made are significant.
Among the features mentioned in the highlight was a customisable Quick Panel – users can customise toggles, grids, and quick shortcuts. This is combined with smoother animations and a snappier interface.
There are also upgrades to some Galaxy AI tools. There is faster and more accurate image processing and editing, as Samsung redoubles its efforts to make AI an ever more integral part of our daily lives.
Connectivity improvements are another highlight. The update improves support for cross-device file storage and sharing, enabling easier access to files across Galaxy phones, tablets and other compatible Samsung devices. You get faster Smart View access, so you don't have to jump through as many hoops if you want to mirror a screen.
Auracast has also been tuned. New Audio Broadcast menu in Settings makes it even easier for you to share and listen to audio wirelessly.
Samsung has thrown in a few small but neat extras, including new weather-based alarm effects, as well as under-the-hood privacy and security improvements to help protect your data even better than before.

How to Install the One UI 8.5 Beta
To get the update, eligible users need to:
- Open the Samsung Members app
- Register for the One UI 8 Beta Programme
- Go to Settings > Software Update > Download and install
It’s also worth noting that features are subject to regional availability, meaning not every beta user will get everything at this time.
What Comes Next
At the moment, One UI 8.5 beta is only available on the Galaxy S25 series but over time, Samsung will bring the programme to more devices. As with all betas, users should expect some minor bugs, but the update already provides a clear look at what Samsung is going to release as its next stable update.
