Snapchat, a popular social media app, was recently in the news for new generative AI features such as MyAI, an AI chatbot. And in the latest move, TechCrunch reported that the company may bring 'Dreams', an AI experiment that will place "you and your friends" in imaginative backdrops in photos.

Citing app researcher Steve Moser, the report added that the company is developing features which would allow users to upload selfies and generate new images in imaginative scenarios. This feature could be on similar lines as other apps like Remini that can generate formal portraits for professional platforms like LinkedIn from selfies using artificial intelligence.

However, the apparatus would be slightly different on Snapchat as it would allow selfies in "fantastical places and scenarios," according to the user. "Snapchat is working on many generative AI features including Dream Packs, Image restoration, an 'Extend Snaps' feature that uses AI to 'Generate a zoomed out version of your Snaps.' and more," Moser, who is also a contributing writer at MacRumors posted on X (formerly called as Twitter).

The report added that the AI selfie should be of good quality with no obstructions. Plus, posing in different angles, lighting environments, and a variety of expressions will enhance the output. Tutorials for better AI images will be available to users.

Secondly, Dreams with Friends would allow Snapchat users to generate an image of themselves and their friends in a dream setting, Moser reported. It could also be a "monetizable" feature due to the hints of 'Dream Packs', TechCrunch noted.

This is not the first time that 'Dreams' has been discovered. Alessandro Paluzzi had posted about the feature in May on X. At that time, the prompt of the option above the 'Generate My Dreams' button read: "Upload several selfies to create your Dreams and generate fantastical Snaps of yourself!" in the screengrab. It was placed in between the Camera Roll and Stories tabs.
