Vodafone Idea 5G: Vodafone Idea (Vi) has launched its most affordable 5G prepaid plan, offering high-speed connectivity at a competitive price. Currently available only in Mumbai, the Rs 299 plan includes 1GB of 5G data per day, unlimited voice calls, and 100 SMS, with a validity of 28 days.

Expansion Plans and Network Availability

Vi has confirmed plans to expand its 5G network to key regions, including Delhi, Bihar, Karnataka, and Punjab, by April 2025. Once the rollout is complete, users in these areas will also have access to the Rs 299 plan and other upcoming 5G offerings.

However, unlimited 5G data is only available to users within Vi’s 5G coverage area in Mumbai. Outside these zones, connectivity will automatically switch to Vi’s 4G network. After exceeding the daily 1GB data cap, speeds will be reduced to 64Kbps.

Future 5G Plans and Competition

Vi is expected to introduce more prepaid and postpaid 5G plans, though the company has not disclosed a specific timeline for their launch.

Meanwhile, Airtel and Reliance Jio have announced a partnership with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to introduce satellite-based connectivity in India. The initiative aims to improve network coverage, particularly in remote areas. However, the rollout is still awaiting regulatory approval, and details regarding pricing, plans, and availability remain unclear.

Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite internet service, is already operational in 100 countries, but its expansion in India depends on government approvals.
