Vivo has quietly launched a new Y series smartphone in China, but don't expect it to compete with the company's upcoming foldable. Instead, the new Vivo Y6a is aimed at users who want a dependable 5G phone with one standout feature: an enormous 7,200mAh battery.
The launch comes just ahead of the Vivo X Fold 6, giving buyers in the budget and mid-range segment another option. Alongside the large battery, the phone also packs a 120Hz display, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, and Android 16 out of the box.

Vivo Y6a Price
The Vivo Y6a is available in a single configuration with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage. It is priced at CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs. 28,000) and is already on sale through Vivo's online store in China.
Customers can pick from Galaxy Silver, Obsidian Black, and Phoenix Welcomes Gold colour options.
Big Battery Takes Centre Stage
The biggest talking point of the Vivo Y6a is undoubtedly its 7,200mAh battery, which is significantly larger than what most smartphones in this price range currently offer. Vivo has paired it with 44W wired fast charging, which should help reduce charging times despite the larger battery capacity.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 Under The Hood
The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, a 4nm processor featuring two performance cores clocked at up to 2.2GHz and six efficiency cores running at 1.95GHz. Graphics are handled by the Adreno 613 GPU, while memory duties are covered by 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
On the software side, the handset runs OriginOS 6 based on Android 16.
Display And Cameras
On the front, the Vivo Y6a features a 6.75-inch HD+ LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 1,200 nits of peak brightness, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and support for 16.7 million colours. The display houses an 8-megapixel selfie camera inside a centred hole-punch cutout.
Flip the phone over and you'll find a square camera module, although it houses just a single 50-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and support for up to 10x digital zoom. Both the front and rear cameras can record videos in up to 1080p resolution.

It also includes a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, face unlock, an IR blaster, USB Type-C, dual-band Wi-Fi, 5G connectivity, Bluetooth 4.2, and support for GPS, Galileo, BeiDou, GLONASS, and QZSS.
The smartphone measures 166.64×78.43×8.39mm and weighs 219g.
