WhatsApp has revealed a set of fresh updates that come at a pivotal point, in time for the festive season, with a major emphasis on making conversations even more fluid, expressive, and interactive. The updated list includes options that span across calling, chats, status, and desktop.
"Missed Call" Messages And Smarter Calling Tools
Among the most significant improvements is the availability of missed call messages. In cases where a call is not answered, individuals are capable of sending a message, which is set to be audio when a call is missed, but video when a call is missed on a video call.
WhatsApp is also upgrading voice conversations with real-time reaction features. Users are now able to react quickly with responses such as "cheers" to indicate that they are listening, thus not interrupting the conversation. The "speaker spotlight" feature is also available on group video talks such that the speaking user appears spotlighted.
Chat Upgrades Powered By Meta AI
In the AI category, WhatsApp has been enhancing its functionality with the help of Meta AI. The service is upgrading its image generation models by collaborating with Midjourney and Flux, which has improved the quality of AI-created images. This has enabled users to make personalised images, such as festive greetings, on WhatsApp.
The latest addition here is the use of AI-powered photo animation, which helps turn regular pictures into short videos. The animated images can now be shared within the conversation or even posted on Status, giving a creative touch to messages.
Computer Enhancements for Optimised Media Handling
WhatsApp is also enhancing the computer version. The addition of a new media tab on Mac, Windows, and Web brings together all media messages, documents, and links that user conversations might have. The upgrade is aimed at ensuring that searching for these messages is even simpler, particularly when one is handling a high quantity of messages on a daily basis. The previews of links have been improved to eliminate clutter from long links.
Status And Channel Engagement Tools
Status updates are undergoing a creative overhaul with the addition of interactive stickers, music lyric templates, and question prompts. The user is now capable of putting questions on Status, which can be answered directly by the viewer.
