Apple is gearing up for sweeping changes across its product line in the upcoming months. Once such change may include the revamp of 'Apple ID' to Apple Account'. Soon after MacRumors reported about the expected change, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman talked in a similar vein. The change could be reflected across Apple's software platforms and iCloud website.
According to the journalist, the tech giant may switch to "Apple Account" this year with the release of the next iOS update for iPhones and watchOS 11. Beyond software integrations, the changes will also show up across the web. The company already terms funds in an Apple ID as 'Apple Account balance', and Gurman talked about an "Apple Account" team.
With the iOS 18 announcement, the term Apple ID may phase out gradually after about two decades of introduction. MacRumors stated the reason behind the change is unclear at the moment. In the software, the new change could be introduced across the App Store and iCloud. Meanwhile, Apple ID is a gateway to all Apple services and allows users to purchase apps, sync data across devices and more.

In June 2024, Apple could preview iOS 18 and macOS 15 at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 for developers. The stable build of iOS could start rolling out to eligible iPhones in September after the launch of the iPhone 16 series. Moreover, the watchOS 11 could be released with the Apple Watch Series 10 and touted Watch Ultra 3.
Meanwhile, speaking of other recent developments, the company could announce an iPad Pro with an OLED screen, a bigger iPad Air and new accessories for these models. In a recent move, the company launched the MacBook Air in two screen sizes and M3 processor. You can read more on this here.
