YouTube Music, a popular music streaming app, is now releasing a live lyrics option for Android and iOS users. The Lyrics tab within the Now Playing menu (between the Up Next and Related tab) has been refreshed with enlarged text and a new design. The content feels roomy due to the generous use of space. The current line of the song turns white, and the rest part turns grey.
According to 9To5Google, users can scroll across the text and the section will refresh as it moves to subsequent lines. The background is a blurred thumbnail of the music image. However, it is not available in all songs. In the unavailable ones, the old mechanism exists. We can confirm that this feature is live on Android in some songs.
The change is seemingly rolling out on version 6.15 on Android and version 6.16 on iOS. It added that users may force stop the app before testing out the availability of the feature and exploring many songs.
Music's competitor Spotify has been offering this feature in its app for a long time. It allows users to skim across the lyrics of songs as the song proceeds for better understanding. As per the report, the search giant has been toiling on the feature for a long time, and they are finally rolling out to the public.
However, they do sometimes not sync well with the track in question, according to Android Police. Playing the song again solves the problem in most cases. On a related note, the company recently announced podcast support on the app. As per the report, the company is testing comments on the Now Playing screen to add listener's take on the app.
Further, the company is also testing the option to search songs via humming or recording a part of the track on its video streaming app. You can read more on this here.
