Hyderabad News: A 32-year-old associate manager at a private bank succumbed to her injuries after attempting suicide by jumping from a multi-storey building in Bachupally on Thursday. Koti Satya Lavanya, originally from Pithapuram in Andhra Pradesh, lived with her husband, B. Veera Mohan and her in-laws in KCR Colony.

Colleagues and friends indicated that Lavanya had been struggling with significant work pressure, which she had confided in them about. The family was also preparing to travel to their hometown for the Sankranti festival when the incident occurred.

On Thursday evening, after returning home from work, Lavanya, alone in the apartment, jumped from the terrace. Neighbours rushed her to a local private hospital, but she died while receiving treatment the following day.

In separate news, Hyderabad cybercrime police arrested 60-year-old NGO operator Kamlesh Kumari in Uttar Pradesh for her involvement in siphoning Rs 1.9 crore from a Hyderabad businesswoman's account through APK fraud. The victim, a 70-year-old Basheer Bagh resident, discovered her account was emptied in nine transactions without receiving OTPs. Cybercriminals exploited malicious Android Package Kits (APKs) to access her phone, delete OTPs and transfer funds.

Kamlesh, facing financial struggles, allegedly allowed fraudsters to use her NGO’s account for Rs 35 lakh commission. Police traced the transactions, froze multiple accounts and recovered the entire stolen amount. Kamlesh, also linked to fraud cases in Delhi and Gujarat, had legal representation from over ten lawyers who contested her remand.

The accused redirected funds to various accounts using VPNs to mask their activities. Police advised caution when clicking suspicious links or APK files and highlighted ongoing efforts to track other gang members.
