Telangana News: A political row erupted in Hyderabad after a cow protection activist was shot and critically injured near Ghatkesar on Wednesday. Sonu, the victim, was reportedly shot while trying to stop illegal cow transport and was admitted to a nearby hospital by the fellow cow protection activists. The local BJP leaders have alleged that the attackers are linked to Asaduddin Owaisi's All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM). The saffron party also questioned the law and order in Telangana by stating that the police did not take any strict action even after being informed on time.

Telangana BJP President N Ramchander Rao claimed that the attacker belonged to Owaisi's party, adding that he managed to flee due to the protection given by the Congress government. “MIM goons fired on a ‘gaurakshak’ named Prashanth Kumar alias Soni near Ghatkesar. He is in serious condition…This incident was carried out by the MIM goons to discourage the BJP and the RSS workers from taking part in gauraksha and to protect the cows," Rao stated.

The MMM person who has attacked is already on the flee…Due to the protection given by the Congress government, these people are doing such activities," he added.

Apart from this, the victim's mother informed that Sonu has been protecting cows in the region for the past few years, further demanding the government arrest the attacker. "My son is battling for his life. I will sacrifice 10 more sons for the cow vigilante. He called me up and said that he is in Ghatkesar and has been shot. He was brought to the hospital here...It has been 5-6 years since he has been doing this...I demand that the Govt arrest the perpetrator..." Sonu's mother was quoted as saying by ANI.
