Star Wars: Visions, which will debut in 2021 and includes Star Wars shorts from several animation firms, will depart from 'mainstream' Star Wars continuity. While only Japanese animation companies were featured in the first season, the second season includes studios from all over the world, including Aardman Animation in the UK, which created the series' first stop-motion short.
With the launch of the Star Wars: Visions Presents label, the executive producer also reportedly revealed a 'bold new direction' for the show that will allow filmmakers to develop lengthy, in-depth storylines without being constrained by runtime. A stand-alone spin-off series of The Ninth Jedi is the first in line, with a 2026 premiere date.
