India-US Top News: As India and the United States (US) are among the top democracies in the world, they gain global attention as many significant developments take place in both countries. Several noteworthy incidents took place in both countries on Monday.

In India, President Droupadi Murmu addressed the nation on the eve of the 77th Independence Day. She expressed pleasure over the festive atmosphere on the eve of Independence Day and said, “Being identified as an Indian citizen is above all”.

While Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to deliver his 10th consecutive Independence Day speech from Delhi’s Red Fort where dignitaries from across the country will take part in celebrations.

Independence Day 2023: PM Modi To Address Nation From Red Fort On August 15

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the nation in marking its 77th Independence Day as the stage is all set for iconic celebrations on Tuesday at the historic Red Fort in New Delhi. This will be his 10th consecutive speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort.

This year Independence Day will culminate the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebrations, which were launched by PM Modi from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on March 12, 2021. President Droupadi Murmu addressed the nation on the eve of the country's 77th Independence Day. She also hailed the country’s resilience during challenging times and added that it has also acted as a beacon of hope for others.

'Dark Chapter In History': Amit Shah Remembers Partition Horror Ahead Of Independence Day Celebrations

Ahead of the 77th Independence Day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said that the partition of the country based on religion is a dark chapter in history and added that the country had to pay a heavy price for it. He also paid tribute to those who lost their lives during the partition. Since, 2021, the Narendra Modi-led government has been observing August 14 as the 'Partition Horrors Remembrance Day' to remember those who lost their lives during the partition of the country. A United States Congressional delegation is set to attend the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort on August 15. Indian American Congressman Shri Thanedar on Sunday informed that the American Congressional delegation will visit the Red Fort on the occasion of Independence Day celebrations after receiving an invitation from PM Modi.

Hawaii Wildfires: Death Toll Rises To 96 As Maui Battles Most Deadly Disaster

The number of deaths resulting from the fires on Maui island has risen to 96 on Monday, making it the deadliest natural disaster in Hawaii since it became in 1959. Officials said that the death toll will rise further as hundreds of people remained missing. The massive fire devastated much of the resort city of Lahaina on Hawai’s Maui island.
