Alissa McCommon, a 38-year-old former teacher from Tennessee, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the rape of a 12-year-old schoolboy. McCommon, a fourth-grade teacher at a focal school in Tipton County, raped the victim and became pregnant as a result of the assault.
On Friday, McCommon took a plea deal, admitting to one count of rape of a child, one count of violating the child protection act, and multiple counts of statutory rape by an authority figure. aggravated statutory rape, sexual exploitation of a minor by electronic means, and solicitation of a minor.
According to Fox 13 Memphis, the former teacher's plea will also include a life sentence of community monitoring and the denial of parole. Additionally, she is prohibited from contacting either her victims or her newborn kid, who is under the grandmother's care. Additionally, McCommon's teaching license has been cancelled.
McCommon may have had as many as 21 victims, all of whom were between the ages of 12 and 17, reported Fox 13 Memphis. One of the victim's mothers testified in court on Friday, saying, "Your mind is sick and twisted for looking at a child and being turned on."
Teacher Threatened Suicide To Maintain Relationship With Student
McCommon reportedly threatened to commit suicide if the boy ended their relationship in one of her messages. In 2021, McCommon was the subject of an investigation, and in 2023, a mother complained that the teacher had sent her son offensive texts. McCommon was placed on unpaid leave from the school on August 24, 2023.
According to the Tipton County District Attorney, she was taken into custody on September 8, 2023, on a 23-count indictment for several sexual acts against multiple students.
