WWE star John Cena was on the verge of not picking up wrestling and that might have forced this sport not to witness their 'GOAT'. WWE has witnessed a lot of stars create their legacy.
One of the biggest stars of this sport is none other than John Cena. The Unseen 17 is considered one of the biggest attractions as far as professional wrestling is concerned and also WWE's face. But the brand might not have gotten its 'GOAT' had Cena chosen a different path at the time when he picked up this sport.
John Cena almost missed out on wrestling due to his other aspirations
During an interaction with Stephanie Macmahon, Cena revealed an interesting story of his struggling days. Since he was always interested in the world of physical activity, John Cena also wanted to be a part of the Marine Corps, as it would have suited his dreams perfectly.
Cena had signed up for the Marines and was just about to sign them. But his friend then invited him for a practice session, which was being held in Orange County that same weekend. Cena, who used to work at the Orange County, was mesmerized with the sport of wrestling ever since he saw the ring. And that's when he decided to work regularly on weekdays and practice wrestling on the weekends.
"I wanted to remain physical and I wanted to keep at a top level of performance...think, the Marine, they pretty seem they would do that. So I was going to drive down and sign up, and the weekend I was going to go. My buddy was like 'Hey we are training in Orange County. Would you wanna do that? I said I take a look at that... and I remember driving to LA Box, it's a one-story glass building and I would see the ring through the glass and I was like 'I'll deal with the suck Monday through to Friday because on the weekends I'll be a superhero and that's how I approached it" John Cena was quoted as saying on Stephanie Mahone's show.
Had John Cena joined the Marines that weekend, the WWE wouldn't have seen one of its star players and this sport would have been quite different. But Cena did attend that practice session and he thus joined WWE. After 25 years, he is currently known as the 'GOAT' and has the record of being the 17-time WWE champion.
